& dive in the sea of my lavish reverie
on velvet red coral, stands a vast blue mural
is there any word for awesome in plural ?
twinkles in bubbles, goin' up thru a flow
a fish goes puff ! an other seems to glow
fins gills tails - green yellow blue
ah! this scene is too good to be true
Dolphins dance up around as I surface
surprised & amazed, I see her glistening face
with a smile on her lips & a hint in her eyes,
"Lets dry out" she says as we leap for the skies !
I grab her hand n our love is in the air
a wavy zephyr keeps caressing her hair.
I can slay demons, I can defeat kings
oh! for the love of this angel-without-any-wings.

in the cotton clouds, after much hide n seek
she tells me she’s tired so we rest on a peak
we lay on the grass, in arms for long
moments of silence do seem like a song
then birds start chirping like something is wrong

The quest for the decent girl with low expectations continues.. Last month, me & dad, we went to this vadhu var chusak mandal called Shubha Vishwa located around laxmi road, pune. These people used to 'specialize' in NRI clientele but it is said that the overseas market is in recession & the recovery, as it is with global business, will only start with domestic 'demand'. The layout & mechanism of the place can only be conceived in Pune. The office is a two room apartment, one room for the girls & one for the guys. Only eligibles & there parents are allowed inside. I had been to another mandal at Dadar so I did not expect much crowd but it was filled to the brim ! Each of the two rooms has some seating & tables. It also has a huge rack(!) where big red registers were kept. There is something with punekars & books/registers of Any kind, you can see that love right from the streets at abc-appa balwant chowk to the british council library which boasts of lending the maximum number of books this year against any other centers in the world ! One of these big red registers is an index register which keeps updated short info of the girls like date of birth, height, education, city etc. This index entry points to another register where detailed info & hot pictures ;) are kept. So we took out a pen & pad & got started on the index register. Initially I got interested, I had the 'filter' criteria figured out as I had been doing it on the net. But this was different & there were no hot pictures so the registers had me bored in no time. Sometime later, I got thirsty so I went to the 'girls' room where a water pot was kept. I found all girls & parents with their heads buried in their registers, as if they'd find some diamond or something ! . Now in the process of keeping the glass back, I dropped it which made a big noise. All of the them looked up right then. "He looks nothing like the photo", one of them whispered, to that, I just smiled at them & went back ...home.

I've been twittering more so this blog hasn't got any attention, I actually had to clear cobwebs around the posting page :P .
Anyway, this deserves more than a tweet or two. I finally managed to watch Natarang after looking at 'houseful' boards for two weekends. Here are some thoughts :
>First of all Take A Bow Atul Kulkarni. It takes guts to portray two strikingly different characters. One is literally a wrestler, thinks like a king, the other who is a nachya (I believe there is no english definition for this).
> The story is about Guna, a daily wage earner in a maharashtrian village who is passionate about tamasha in the artistic sense. He gives up everything to bring up a tamasha group of his own. The story is brutally tragic in the second half. Not suitable for kids at all.
> Hats off to the director, hes remained true to the novel. The screenplay is just how i like it, keeps you engaged all throughout. And the detailing ..& wow I love details, when a musician leaves the troupe you can see the band manager himself playing it.
> Zee has impressed me, they work so well on regional content, first initiatives like saregamapa which gave us a flavor of marathi folk music & then movies like this.
> As I left the theater, there was feeling that something was missing. Maybe if they would have put the Arjun-Bruhannala performance at the end to signify the redemption that Guna had started, it would have brought a feel good factor.

> The music is fantastic. I read Ajay-Atul have been offered by sanjay leela bhansali one of his flick after he listened to their work.

My vote in Pune could have made a difference but there was no real challenge to Kalmadi (winning margin 25000) even if I left my job & campaigned .

Some points here :

>Congress can infuse ‘young blood’ into its veins through its ‘baba log’ (An army of rich kids of sitting MPs & MLAs). If BJP follows the same then what is the difference ?

>Will the congress really ever complete the National Highways Golden Quadrilateral left in lurch after NDA ?

>Does the congress have any real plan for improving irrigation in the country like the river linking project proposed by NDA ?

>Will congress just dole out money in form of loan waivers & through NREGA without any trace of development that it is supposed to achieve ?

>What is the plan to handle Talibanized Pakistan, Chinkified Nepal & Sri Lanka or China itself?

>Will somebody please invest in infrastructure ?

Many such questions are looking at the government in face. Singh might be king now but no surgeon can help him ‘bypass’ these issues.

Why haven’t I transferred my registration to Mumbai ? I don’t want to deal with the bureaucracy.

Ok so aunty put my photo in small town matrimony book (she say small town have descent girls). Matrimony book is black & white, many boys photo has white head but salary figure more black than mine. Also now is recession, so many FIIs (Father in Law Investor) not liking my risk factors. Also my naadi not matching with many girls pajama. But aunty somehow manage few girls.

Ok so long weekend, I go small town, before that I loose ticketvala ticket, so actual ticket vala curse me, then he find the ticket under someone shoe. {saved by the grace of FSM(Pasta Be Upon Him)}. But ticket vala wants badlaa so he find driver, driver find pothole. I find no sleep. In the night, Police stop, say bus take more load over than passenger below. So driver say ok we balance by giving from my above shirt pocket to your below pant pocket, police take that much & we go. (driver forgots about me after that. yahoo !)

Ok so I am at bus stand. Small town have concrete roads ! & concrete potholes ! also more people stuffed into small tempo so I am chatni sandwich by time I reach unkil home. There I become fresh after shower. I like small town, here armpit dont turn into swimming pool like big town. I go to roof, take sunbath. Aunty tells me to dress up as girl would be coming soon.As usual I wear some casual.

Ok so the girl comes in a huge tavera, is this my jeevan ka savera? :P. Me in two minds, if I tell a PJ now, girl will run away, If I don't, she will run away when she find this talent of mine. What to do ? Ok Lets keep mum till suhag-raat ;) . Sweets are offered & taken with much shyness. Ok so next girl, she is Independant, like I want, should spend her own money & not asking me much. But she giggling too much, I ask question, she giggle, I ask another she giggle more. I like her giggle, I take her email, So aunty realizes & asks if I want to show her the house, there is nothing to show, but I take hint. We go up on gacchi, after some climate talk she tell me she is teacher in local college & may not find work in Big town. But I say you passed out with honors, you will get. Then she tell real reason, the college hunk. So we come down.

Ok so for a change we go to girl house, then we have tea, sweets, samosa, upma etc. So I tell papa it is better to go to girl house. Then we go to roof again.This girl was not speaking much in front of bade log but she explode with words now. She doing masters in economic, also giving bank exam, also filled IPS application, also giving upsc. I am good listener, but there is time limit, so they call us down.

Ok so next girl teach english to mba studs, Her eyes very attractive but I control by looking at her massive figure. Half of her sentence is english. I like. But do she like my english ? So I throw in words like recursive control flow & integration of processing logic. I dont think she like that. So I ask any boyfriends? She say she rejected many proposals. Very good. I say. She ask me if I have girlfriend, I say I never got rejected because I only kept redrafting the proposals . Nice joke, she does not like. so we come down.

Ok so next girl, is counsellar at management institute, brings in many bakras. All their courses are belong to bad state, she tell me. She also like coding & database like oracle, I tell her I also like the matrix movies. She doesn't understand. She tell she has seen many ups & down, no care for money, she just want mental support. I say very good, I support many application at work & also I am mental. So done. She understand the joke this time. & So we come down.

Ok so day after, we go to girl house, girl not there. so we come down.

3 days 5 girls, next round is expecting.

If you're speaking for the whole main stream tv news media ..
1) We saw media guys chasing the rescued hostages for quotes. How are you feeling? really? if he wants to tell he'll stop, not keep walking 500 mtrs with a mob of reporters following him.
2) We saw blow by blow coverage of the commando action, even to the extent of being told which exact positions our commandos were in. Do you know that very time many the social messaging sites (twitter etc.) were self-censoring their messages for the fear that the terrorists might get any hint.(far fetched, but why take the risk, this was a war)
3)Why were some correspondents shouting ?? (Like when a guy with earphones thinks others can't hear him & shouts) shouldn't they be thinking of not creating panic ? Reporters should NOT be like that.
4)There was NO confirmation being carried out, this number of terrorists, this number of commondos (not even saying probably this many), another blast at CST ???? . Please don't report anything without confirmation. simple.
5) Why doesn't news media walk the talk & do something on its own to frame regulations instead of waiting on the government?? You're always talking of us being dependent on govt. don't you. Take a cue from the international media.

Somebody told me this is a Rock music movie but the only thing resembling Rock was Arjun Rampals expressionless thobda. The USP of a rock movie should be its music, atleast ek taabad tod gaana, to lend a crescendo at the climax but mila kya ...

Ye tumhari meri baatein .. was a good one but slow numbers are already Javed Akhtars playground, he should have stuck to them & given the rock lyrics to someone like Indian Ocean.
I dunno why but everytime Prachi desai came into the frame I would look for a remote to change the channel. Koel purie is ok & Gauhar khan is looking gorgueous enuf to eat but The Band failed to create any acting 'magik' altogether . I loved Debbie's character (Shahana Goswami, RuBaRu might have flopped but she has shined in this one).
Otherwise the 'production values' were good , which means they didn't fly out to switzerland just because they wanted to shoot a song & also managed to look like normal human beings throughout the movie.

Afterthought : Just add Aamir & this would become another DCH albeit with patthar music.

Nowadays, father is seriously thinking abt fixing me up with some girl, so now I am supposed to recite a ganapati stotra (sanskrit shloka) every tuesday & wear a pearl ring , that would make my prospects bright for a 'good girl' . You see, for him I am his son, not some rationalist fool [who also thinks marriage is decided by how tasty the kande pohe turn out to be]. Poor father, from the beginning to the end i.e. from soo soo to shaadi (shaadi as end, how apt ;), everything has to be initiated by him. He decided to act because I didn't (or couldn't ?) - [that chapter is a black comedy in itself]. Although I can blame my incompetence in that area called lurve to the skewed sex gender ratio in Matrubhoomi : a nation -soon-to-be- without women. Anyway, soon my profile got created on barbaadi.com, hathimeresathi.com, simplycarry.com vagaira vagaira courtesy the sisterhood (my plans to marry after the sisterhood does were thus, cut short, sisterhood always wins, shhhh raksha bandhan is near). Then it was quiet for sometime. Sometime later i decided to update the profiles myself with details like 'traveled a broad abroad' & such. Then, sisterhood said they were getting flooded with messages, so i decided to check some out. Now normally, I outright reject profiles created by the poojaniya mata-pita but this one seems irresistible :

Tested with the term javascript escape ampersand text the Cuil first page provides only two ways to escape ampersand using javascript ; even adding another word to the query javascript escape ampersand text struts
leads to "No results found",whereas Google shows many alternatives.

The ending that will stay with me till my ending !

I had Taare Zameen Par stored on my laptop, roommate had not seen it, when we saw it together, I felt proud, as if I had made it & was holding a private screening !

In theatres the movies that I saw recently were Ironman,Valu(marathi) & Tingya(marathi). (Fe)Man was fultu timepass as expected, In Valu some characters makes a documentary about a rampaging village bull gone mad(though all the the while, the bull in question never seems dangerous!) & Tingya feels literally like a documentary on suicidal maharashtra farmers. The two marathi movies are very well made, but lack any punch to get the message through. Next on the watch list is another marathi flick De Dhakka& waiting for Harold & Kumar's next to release here.

While we are on the topic of movies ...

Among the few blog feeds that I subscribe to, one is Passion For Cinema. Here, the readers contribute tidbits about world cinema, which one gets to read about rarely from an Indian perspective. Came across a topic The (movie) endings which stayed with me there & I had to mention the climax that has stayed with me & is likely to stay with me till the climax of my life! It is the ending of the Original Planet of the Apes which came out in 1968. I so so so much want to describe it here but it's so haunting & powerful that you have to see it without any spoilers. Interestingly, the novel which the movie is based on has a different end & its writer said later that he wished he had thought of the twist ending as it appears in the movie !

Recollections II (the bad ones first)

Memory is selective; you only remember important things, little things that were good or things that went miserably bad. These were disasters.

Lesson in Class Unity

Yours truly was in 6^th standard¹ in "bharat ka swarnim gaurav lane wala" kendriya vidyalaya, Kota. The background is that this particular KV housed a lot of rogue elements who did not approve of the honorable KV motto. They had a fetish for making other peoples treasured tools such as a compass box² or pilot pen³ their own. In my own division, if some girl would display her unkil-gifted strawberry-flavored rubber⁴ one day, she found it missing the next (found it missing?). Being the righteous one, I always felt indignated at the fact that nothing was being done to nab the culprit (phrase courtesy:cnn-ibn). After all, those little damsels in this-dress i.e. the cute blue skirt needed someone to stand up for them. No, I didn't do anything, not until my own compost box went missing (Really, the pencil shavings kept rotting in there would have made good compost). As soon as I realized that the box containing my favorite poking instrument (at that time - the divider) was missing, I went straight to the class teacher to report the crime. I did not have much faith in him, like the UPA, he was too soft on terrorism & did not round up the usual suspects. Instead in his standard non-POTA way, he made everybody stand up & started asking each one personally rather than the 3^rd Degee water boarding or narco-analysis test that I would have preferred. It was a simple cross examination where the mulzim could get away with murder. So the futility of this exercise was making me mad. In that rage I blurted out:

“Aise bhikhari jaise maangne se thodi koi batayega” (!) a little too loudly.

Luckily, Sir hadn’t heard those words. But since everyone around me had a hearty laugh on that comment, he became suspicious. He came straight to us & asked one of my friends (at least I considered him one) what they were laughing about. Pat came the reply:

“Sir is ne bola ki ……. ”

& as they say the rest is slapstory. I never got the box back & my faith in fraandship was shattered.

From then it won’t be until the 9^th std. that I would meet fellas who understood class unity and make good clean fun of our revered teachers without getting caught.

Yes go ahead Mr. secular sardarji economist prime minister (a phrase taken from his own unofficial blog) , make a toast to your pathetic 4 years, we will surely toast you next year ! But the dichotomy here is that we will have to choose the merchant of death Modi over you - the merchant of doing nothing. This dichotomy is a slightly different from the dicotomy present in my apartment were there are two cots in one room. On one sleeps a poor bachelor guy, in my case a poor very bachelor guy & the other sleeps the roomy in his underwear. How I wished he was a she sleeping like that but on second thoughts the prospect of waking up (4ft) next to a hairy & balding (in his case his hair face a dichotomy) girl might induce morning sickness without being pregnant.

In other news finally I have got some work so I won't have to take the same trainings over & over now, just have to pretend to be involved wih the team.

Like you find out that pronto pizza makes the thin-crust pizza that you like, while you were going over @ sbarros . That everybody notices your smile & attributes it to your going back home, which was never commented upon when you came back from that skiing trip or Miami. That suddenly there is a 1$ bluetooth headset available "only online" that you don't have the time to collect now. That even though nobody has told them about your return, long forgotten relatives call & ask for 'gifts'. That you realize the very touristy place you did not bother to visit was the symbol of the city. Yes I didn't visit lady liberty - just saw her from a *very* safe distance. Why ? well I was afraid that she might hit me with that enormous torch - I've stood her up for more than a millennium now ;P

This may be disturbing. I had the most horrible dream last night. In that nightmare of a dream, I killed somebody. I put in the details into another post but I wouldn't want to publish it. Even for a dream it is very unsettling for me. I woke up - right as I was planning my getaway. Getaway ? how could i think of that, there was blood everywhere. When i woke up there should have been relief that it was not real. But it felt real & I kept thinking about it all morning getting ready for work. How could I kill a man that grotesquely , & the guilt, I could actually feel the guilt , you really want to kill yourself after you've done something like that. If not for the act itself but for the dread of being caught. Some of the imagery was new, some felt awfully similar to movie sequences, except I was experiencing the movie. What triggered this ? hopefully this is a one off thing. One of my friends gets these violent dreams in which he's a gun toting macho man, maybe shooting supposedly evil men from a distance ala video games is not that freakish, but this was not a gun.

A thin balding man stands in the queue outside the registration office in Mumbai.
There are scores of other men standing before him in various stages of fatigue. The humidity is killing. Some are trying to fan themselves with the documents they have, others using them to
hide from the glowing sun or to ward off the flies. The man stands there, lost in thoughts, looking intently at the intricate carvings on the aging british landmark - now a home to the Indian babudom. Just like a period film, he thinks, but then looks at the front wall, all adorned with paan spit marks & decaying movie posters, the red stain from the paan seeping into a Deewar poster making it look like Coolie. Obscenities about female genitalia written above an awareness message - "kandom che vaapar, aids kari haddpaar". Some election posters, some ayurvedic pamphlets promising all night long virility. Typical wall.

Like hijacked strangers who feel close to each other, victims of the table2table gang become instant friends,sharing information like where do you get the forms, who can fill them out correctly, who can get them stamped, which officer is the 'easiest' etcetera.
A guy claims to know the general manager -
"Wo hamara dur ka rishtey mein haai, manipur se".
Everybody laughs at him "Arey wo manager sirf moneypur jaanta hai,manipur nahi"

"Arey dekho to bhaiyya ye kaagaj sahi hai ya nahi"
"Oho aapne notary se stamp to karvaya hi nahi"
"Ye aakhri taareekh kab thi bhaisab?"
"Upar ka kitna paisa lagta hai idhar?"
"Ye line aagey kyon nahi badhti?"

The cacophony of confusion reigns supreme. But the man remains silent. His mind searching
for a perfect mirage in the desert, a mirage that will show everybody what he wants, not what
is, the grim reality which looks like that front wall.
The men behind him shout, push him into the inches of vacant space ahead.The line moves forward agonizingly slow. Finally inside, he asks for the license registration officer.The peon directs him towards a swarm of people buzzing around a table.He pushes through, keeps the heap of files on the table. The officer looks up. It feels like he's seen the man somewhere.

"bola, naav kay?" the officer asks his name.
"ashutosh"
"konte license pahije?"
"creative license"
